Ending Violence and Abuse Aberdeen (EVAA)

EVAA offers support for women experiencing or who have experienced domestic violence or gender based abuse including physical, emotional, financial or sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, human trafficking and coercive control. Some of our service users have experienced multiple forms of abuse in their lifetime.

About the service
EVAA aims to ensure that those who are experiencing domestic or gender based abuse get the help that they need. We provide specialist support, access to safe accommodation and help people to manage risk and make their situation safe.

Who we help
We work with women who are 16 years old and over based in Aberdeen, who may be experiencing issues relating to their finances, housing situation, mental or physical health, substance use and relationships.

How we help
The support that EVAA provides includes:

  • Supporting women to remain safely in their own accommodation

  • Support to identify alternative accommodation, including access to Aberdeen City Council's Housing and Homelessness service

  • Supporting those with no recourse to public funds to access safe accommodation

  • Safety planning

  • Emotional and practical support

  • Providing personal and home security items

  • Crisis intervention

  • Advocacy

  • Referral to other agencies.

We provide support in the following ways:

  • One-to-one: supporting people on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access safe accommodation , safety plan, build confidence and make positive changes in their lives

  • Women's Group programme: a safe, friendly space for women to meet others as a way of increasing confidence, improving social skills and social isolation and shape future services

The EVAA team provide non-judgemental, person centred support and use trauma informed practice. We strive to empower people to address and move on from the abuse that they have experienced, enabling them to make positive changes in their lives.
