In memory of Dan Fraser

After the sad passing of Dan Fraser, all of us at Aberdeen Cyrenians want to pay tribute to him and remember the legacy he left, helping thousands of people recover from crisis.

For over 16 years, Dan was our Board member, steering the charity, ensuring good governance, celebrating successes and diligently navigating more challenging times. After retiring from the board, he continued his membership, attending our AGMs and supporting the organisation.

He was a champion for those that need support from overwhelming crisis and sudden life shocks, recognising that when there was nowhere left to turn, a welcoming smile and the offer of assistance is quite simply life-saving.

Those of us who knew Dan were extremely saddened to hear of his passing and our Trustees who served with him will remember him fondly as a true gentleman who went out of his way to support new board members. We valued his wisdom, his patience and his ability to consider the facts of any situation and make reasoned and balanced decisions in the best interests of the charity.

We are extremely grateful for the donations made in his memory. Dan was particularly passionate about our Direct Access Service, which is the first port of call for anyone who is homeless, threatened with homelessness or who needs our help because they are in a vulnerable situation.

It therefore seems fitting that we allocate the money raised to support the work of this service.

He worked tirelessly to help shape our organisation into what it is today. We shall miss Dan as a valued colleague, supporter and friend and will continue to recognise his legacy in our future work.
